TL;DR: Starting in August 2026, email will become the default way to sign in to the Bee App and beemaps.com. USDC will become the default rewards system, and Phantom and Breeze wallet connections that support HONEY rewards will be removed from the Bee App.
What Changes in August 2026
- Email sign-in becomes the default. Email will become the default way to sign in to the Bee App and beemaps.com.
- USDC becomes the default. USDC rewards will expand to most roads and regions and become the default rewards system in the Bee App.
- Phantom and Breeze will be removed. Phantom and Breeze wallet connections will be removed from the Bee App and we will no longer support HONEY token rewards in the app. Rewards paid through a Circle Wallet will become the only rewards mechanism available in the Bee App. As part of removing Phantom and Breeze from the Bee App, we have terminated our services agreement with the Hivemapper Foundation.
- Set up a Circle Wallet. Currently, contributors can add a Circle Wallet in the Bee App to receive USDC rewards. We will add support for Beekeeper fleets to receive USDC for their fleet.
How USDC Rewards Work
- Dollar-denominated rewards. USDC provides contributors with a dollar-denominated stablecoin rewards mechanism.
- Funded by Bee Maps. USDC rewards are funded directly by Bee Maps and offered at our sole discretion.
- Availability. We expect to offer USDC rewards in most regions.
How to Participate
- Download the latest Bee App — Get it from the App Store or Play Store.
- Add a Circle Wallet — Use Circle Wallet to receive USDC rewards.
- Just Drive — Certain roads may earn more than others.
